SONGS OF THE WEEK 02/04/23

CORAL PALMS - 'PROMISES'

Coral Palms recently treated their nearly 30k monthly Spotify listeners to a new single, named 'Promises'. The track is about hedonistic behavior whilst at Uni which presumably goes beyond chilling in McDonald's and falling off chairs. 'Promises' is slower and more subtle than previous releases (in which 'Open Roads' is our fave), which is a positive as the band have proven they can write diverse songs. 'Promises' draws upon the bands experiences both in life and musically and as such the end result is well worth a listen. Which you can do below.

LIAM DUTCH - 'FREAKY DREAMS'

'Freaky Dreams' is Liam Dutch's first music of the year and it is well worth the wait. Heralding a more moody ambience from the China-based multi instrumentalist than previous releases, 'Freaky Dreams' is quite relaxing to listen to as Dutch takes us on an interesting journey through his subconscious. With a music video on the way and more singles leading to a second EP, 2023 should be Liam Dutch's year.

UNSTUCK - 'WORKING MAN!'

There is definitely a resurgence in Irish guitar bands as of late and Wexford's Unstuck are a welcome addition to the fold. Their third single 'Working Man!' is their best yet and cements their stake at becoming the regions dominating alternative-rock band. The trio have been grafting on the finest (and not so finest) stages that Dublin has to offer for over a year now and with releases such as this rip-roaring new single, it won't be long before their goals are realised.

VIVAS - 'AS IT WAS'

Releasing a cover version of a popular song is always a gamble. Luckily, the Yorkshire band VIVAS have done justice to this Harry Styles track. It's an all out, no nonsense reimaging of the popular song and as such VIVAS have both created something altogether new whilst maintaining the spirit of the original. With a support slot with fellow Sheffield rockers Def Leppard on the horizon, expect to hear a lot more from this lot. An outstanding release.
